Life, or Something Like It...

The first step is always the hardest, or is it?

The first step, to me, is making the decision. Recognising what your goal is and going for it. That is the easy (relatively) part. Once you have made it that far, that is when the real work beings, trying to make the dream reality. We can see this in everyday life, in big dreams, small tasks, even in starting a blog! 

I had hoped to start this blog more than a few days ago. I made the decision, set up the account, and then left the blank page open on screen for almost a week. It was the first post that seemed impossible to start. How do you start something like this? How do you explain what it is you are wanting to do without seeming - how should I put it - like a complete Wanker. Well, let's face it, there is no other way to seem when you start something of this nature, so here goes...

I am currently finishing up my university studies in Philosophy and Media. When I finish in June I hope to secure an Editorial Assistant position to start my career in Publishing, hoping to eventually become an editor. So far, my applications have not been successful, and I have not been getting any feedback either. I am far from ready to give up however, I am resilient and I will keep trying until those employers come to their senses! If I am unable to secure the position I want straight away, I hope to get some secretarial/administrative work for a year or so until I can secure the right position for me. 

Apart from my editorial ambitions, I also hope to become a (very successful) published writer. This blog is just the beginning. You have to start somewhere, and a bit of practice never hurt anyone. I hope to recount interesting stories of life and imagination, keep friends (and anyone else who would like to read it) up-to-date with my career, review books, film, tv, and music... and anything else that might interest the intelligent, interested blog readers.

So, I hope this will be a fruitful exercise, especially now that I have finally written the very first post.
